FIRST DAY
“Feel the ground tremble and see the dark sky explode in a natural display of fireworks.”
Approximate Itinerary:

11:15 am - Departure from San Jose to the Northwestern region of Costa Rica. On the way you will have an opportunity to admire of the most important coffee and sugar cane plantations in the country. Along the way we will learn a bit about the history and evolution of these products and their important role in in the livelihood of Costa Rica.

12:30 am - Arrival at San Ramon. Many of Costa Rica’s poets, politicians and former presidents were born in this area. Here we will enjoy a delicious lunch at one of the town’s nice restaurants.

1:20 pm - It’s time to turn on the natural air conditioning and enjoy the pure air of our countryside. We will pass through the towns of Angeles Norte, La Tigra and Chachagua. These towns are excellent examples of Costa Rican culture and lifestyle.

3:30 pm - We will arrive in La Fortuna, the town that is closest to Arenal Volcano. From here we will drive directly to Arenal Lake. Arenal Volcano will be constantly in view and erupts frequently during the day or night, billowing out smoke, lava and a natural display of fireworks. But let’s keep alert to hear the impressive roar of the volcano, characterizing it after its brief siestas.

4:00 pm - Arrival at Tabacon Resort. Time to relax and rest in the therapeutic hot springs here at the volcano’s base, which is also one of the best vantage points in the area! For those who may prefer to enjoy a massage or mud mask, the spa is just a few steps away.

7:00 pm - A delicious dinner will be served before we take you back to your hotel in the area.

SECOND DAY
6:30 am - Breakfast at your hotel or as indicated in your voucher.

7:15 am - The Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge will definitely be an unforgetable experience for nature lovers. In this refuge there are five main habitants with abundant flora and a great diversity of local and migratory birds. Birds that can be observed are the anhinga, rodeate spoonbill, white ibis, norther jacana, woodstork, Nicaraguan grackle and many others, some even endemic to the area. Among the bigger species that may be observed are ocelots, tapirs, caiman, etc. (A box lunch will be served.)

5:00 pm - At this time the tour bus will take you back to the Tabacon Resort to join the group that is taking the one day tour, for dinner and a little relaxation at the hot springs.

7:45 pm - Depature for San Jose.

10:30 pm - Approximate arrival in San Jose.
