Our
professional archaeology guide will take you to the National
Archaeology and Ethnography Museum where many of the country's
Pre-Columbian treasures are zealously kept. These treasures
include Maya stellae and other carved monuments, jades,
shells, musical instruments and give visitors an idea of
the peopling of this land and its cultural evolution, art,
history and geography.

KAMINAL
JUYU ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITE & MIRAFLORES MUSEUM
(every day except Mondays)
This
morning we will take you through the history of the ancient
inhabitants that lived in the Valley of Guatemala starting
with a short visit to the Kaminal Juyu archaeological site.
Here you will learn about the process of an archaeological
excavation. Proceed then to visit the Kaminal Juyu Miraflores
Museum, which houses a collection with some of the city’s
finest Pre-Columbian treasures. These treasures include
fine ceramics and art work in a small, yet fascinating museographic
exhibit, which give visitors an idea, not only of the excellence
achieved by the ancient inhabitants in sculpture, ceramics
and workmanship, but also of our modern city’s development.

VUH & IXCHEL MUSEUMS
(weekdays only)
The
Francisco Marroquin University Museum Complex houses two
excellent museums of Pre-Columbian & Colonial art and
Guatemalan Textiles. The Popol Vuh Archaeology Museum houses
a private collection with some of the country's finest Pre-Columbian
treasures. These treasures include fine Maya ceramics and
art work in jade, which give visitors an idea of the excellence
achieved by the ancient Maya in painting, ceramics and workmanship.
After enjoying the museum's excellent displays, we will
submerge ourselves in the fascinating colors of Guatemalan
textiles at the nearby Ixchel Museum.
