2/ Panama Canal Jungle Boat Adventure - Chiriqui Highlands
- Transfer to the town of Gamboa in the Panama Canal
- Visit to the Primate Reserve and Sanctuary of Panama located on a set of islands in Gatun Lake
|
- Picnic and return to Gamboa
- Scheduled flight to David, capital of the Chiriqui province.
- Transfer by van to the eastern side of the dormant Baru Volcano to the quaint town of Boquete

Day
3/ La Amistad International Park & World Biosphere Reserve
- Spend the morning hiking and exploring La Amistad International Park in the area of El Retoño
in search of the Resplendent Quetzal, Silvery-fronted Tapaculo, Andean Pygmy-Owl, Barred Becard, Black
and Yellow Silky Flycatcher among many other western highland birds.

- After lunch at a local restaurant visit Finca Dracula home to over 1500 orchids species.
- On your return ride to the hotel you will stop at the Janson’s Coffee Estate and have an
interactive experience with coffee. Here the experts will explain all the processes that coffee
beans go through.
This is no ordinary coffee. Shade grown and scrutinized, Janson’s Coffee is
world renown. Enjoy a fresh brewed cup of coffee while watching the spectacular sunset over the
Baru Volcano, the highest peak of the country at 3,475 meters above sea level.

Day
4/ Sitio Barriles - Carta Vieja Rum Factory - Boquete
- On the way to Boquete you will first visit Sitio Barriles an archeological site of the extinct
Barril Culture that once lived on the slopes of the dormant Baru Volcano. Here the site guide will
interpret the petroglyphs (writing on stones) and enlighten us on the history of this culture.

- Lunch will be at a local restaurant in route to the Carta Vieja Rum Factory where you will learn how rum is made from sugar cane molasses and their different blends
that are done by aging.
- Once your rum tasting is done, proceed to the eastern side of the dormant Baru Volcano
to the quaint town of Boquete with its countryside dotted with flower, fruit and vegetable
farms, coffee plantations and also lush tropical cloud forests.

Day
5/ Finca Lerida Cloud Forest
- In the morning explore Finca Lerida, a privately owned preserve just outside Baru Volcano National Park.
At an elevation of 2286 meters we have an opportunity to see the elusive Resplendent Quetzal, Three-wattled
Bellbird, Black-faced Solitaire, Volcano Hummingbird, Long-tailed Silky Flycatcher and Prong-billed Barbet
in their cool habitat of orchids, bromeliads and wild avocados.

- After a picnic lunch in the cloud forest visit a hydroponics farm

Day 6/
Panama City
- After breakfast travel to the city of David to board the
mid-morning flight to Panama City.
|
- Upon arrival lunch will be at a local restaurant and from here you will visit the
Smithsonian Marine Exhibition at Culebra Point at the entrance to the pacific side of
the Panama Canal and the International Handcraft Market where crafts from Panama and
other Latin American countries are sold.
- Also you will visit the Panama Canal’s Administration Building to admire the beautiful
murals painted by William B. Van Ingen that depicts the monumental labor involved in the
building of the waterway.

Day 7/
San Blas Islands - Dolphin Islands
- Depart by small plane to San Blas very early this morning. To enhance the interaction
with the Kuna people you will go without our Naturalist Guide. On arrival a representative
of Dolphin Island Lodge will meet us.
|
- Your accommodation are rustic but comfortable in traditional Kuna-style huts with cozy beds,
indoor bathrooms and a hammock on the front porch. Meals are served in the Bohio dining room
overlooking the Caribbean.
- Visit the Kuna village of Achutupo in the company of a local guide that will provide you
with an excellent opportunity to learn about the Kuna culture and traditional ceremonies. Visit the
communal house of “Sahilas” (Kuna chiefs) where the chiefs are responsible for enforcing the law of
the community as well as offering advice on other aspects of life - including marital problems. Learn
about the construction of the typical Kuna house, economy, traditional mola, and the processing of sugar
cane into the local drink.
- Afterwards return to the lodge to relax at one of the hammocks before having lunch.
- This afternoon you will go snorkeling in the crystal clear waters of the Caribbean to see stunning
marine and coral life.

Day 8/
Panama City
- After breakfast board the plane bound for Panama City
|
- The activities today include a visit to the ruins of Old Panama,
Casco Antiguo, the Panama Canal Museum, and the Miraflores Locks.

Day 9/
Partial Panama Canal Transit
- Early morning pick-up at the hotel for the 15 minute drive to the port of Balboa where you
board the passenger ferry which will take you on the world famous journey through the Panama Canal.
|
- Cruise through Miraflores and Pedro Miguel Locks, Gaillard Cut, the Continental divide and narrowest part of the Panama Canal arriving at the town of Gamboa home to the dredging division,
an important part in the functioning of the canal.
- At Gamboa the ferry turns around and returns to the port of Balboa. Tonight enjoy a farewell dinner
at a typical Panamanian restaurant.

Day 10/
Depart Panama
- Transfer to Tocumen International Airport 2.5 hours prior to flight departure
